A Revolution in Student Education

A summary of the programs offered under the umbrella of A.R.I.S.E. is below.

Vocal-Creative Communication
An intensive creative writing elective, aligned with the NYS ELA standards, which provides students with a forum to practice and understand the power of words. It is the goal of this educational program to expose students to verbal and nonverbal forms of communication.

Dance Power
An intensive art elective designed to supplement and/or enhance the existing physical fitness program at your school. Dance Power offers students a chance to develop stories and express their stories through movement, which builds stronger ELA learners.

Drama
An intensive art elective design for performers and anyone else who want to free their bodies for maximum efficiency for self-expression. It will enable the student to identify habits that can reinforce their freedom of movement and balance. Students will learn to release bodily tension and move with more ease and poise thus becoming more conscious and accountable for the way they use their bodies. Students study selected plays from the perspectives of actors and directors, and the strategies of playwrights to develop the ability to imagine the play in performance and to appreciate the range of theatre's possibilities.

Martial Arts
This training aims to result in several benefits, such as, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Through systematic practice in the martial arts a person's physical fitness may be boosted (strength, stamina, flexibility, movement coordination, etc.), as the whole body is exercised and the entire muscular system is activated. Beyond contributing to physical fitness, martial arts’ training has benefits for mental health, contributing to self-esteem, self-control, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Physical Activity and Healthy Living
During each session, the students will learn terminology, general anatomy, class discipline, and the self-determination required to dance, sports, martial arts. Core Physical Activity education and philosophy will be combined with increased strength, stamina, balance, alignment, flexibility, injury prevention, stress management, and personal creativity. Students will make direct correlations between how each discipline relates to everyday movement and concentrated and how it promotes healthy living.
